Therapy Intensives

Private, personalized therapeutic intensives for individuals and couples ready to engage beyond the pace of weekly therapy.

Life has a way of demanding our attention. Work. Relationships. Family. Ministry. Responsibilities that often leave little room for our own healing.

At some point, continuing to work around an issue becomes more exhausting than addressing it directly.

There are times when concentrated work creates momentum that is difficult to achieve in short weekly sessions. Instead of distributing the work across months of appointments, we set aside extended, uninterrupted time to go deeper, stay longer, and let things actually move.

Intensives are grounded in the arKardia Method™ and tailored to the unique needs of each person and couple. There is no group format or curriculum to follow. The work unfolds at your pace.

Focused healing intensives are available for individuals and couples.

Clients come from across the country: some self-referred, others sent by ministry leaders, physicians, or fellow clinicians who know this work.

People who seek out an intensive are usually not new to therapy. Most have done prior work. What brings them here is the recognition that what they’re still carrying is costing them in the places that matter most: their relationships, their peace of mind, their ability to be fully present, their leadership, their faith, or simply their ability to enjoy life.

Individuals and couples often seek intensive work when they are navigating:

  • Trauma, betrayal, grief, or other unresolved experiences
  • Relational patterns, conflict, or trust issues that keep repeating
  • Anxiety and nervous system responses that stay stuck despite effort
  • Significant life, family, or relationship transitions
  • Past therapy that brought understanding without lasting change

What to expect in a therapy intensive

If you’ve ever left a session wishing you had another hour, you’re not alone. Healing intensives remove the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy, allowing us to follow the work where it naturally leads.

How intensives are scheduled
Intensives are scheduled over one to five days, with session length and pacing determined through the consultation process. The structure is unique to you and the concerns you hope to address.

Some people work through significant material in a single day and others prefer to spread the work with intentional space between. We’ll discuss what makes sense for your situation before anything is scheduled.

What the day actually feels like
Many clients are surprised by how settled the experience feels, even when the content is difficult. The contained format creates conditions for the nervous system to stay regulated throughout rather than being pushed past what it can hold. What most people describe afterward is not exhaustion, but a sense of clarity and lightness.

Intensive Location

arKardia is located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a quiet setting that tends to support this kind of work. While many clients are local to Pennsylvania, others travel from across the United States for a dedicated intensive experience. This time is a step away from ordinary demands, not one more appointment in an already full week.

Clients often remark that walking into the space feels nothing like a clinical office. Calming music plays in the background, the pace is unhurried, and the environment is designed with the work in mind.

When the only thing on your schedule is healing, progress becomes easier to sustain. Many people find that stepping out of their regular environment creates a different quality of attention and openness.

Focused healing intensives represent a meaningful commitment of time, attention, and resources.

Many individuals devote focused time to their careers, businesses, ministries, families, and responsibilities because those things matter. Healing matters too and you are worthy of more than whatever time happens to be left over.

Investment
Intensives are $1,200 per day for individuals and $1,700 per day for couples, with additional days available for those wanting more in-depth work. Options and detailed pricing are provided during your discovery call.

Questions about therapy intensives?

Healing intensives are designed for people to engage in meaningful therapeutic work without the interruptions that naturally come with weekly therapy.

They can be an excellent option if you’ve been in therapy before but still feel stuck, want to focus on a specific issue, have limited availability for ongoing weekly sessions, or are traveling from outside the area for care.

Together, we’ll determine whether a healing intensive or weekly therapy is the best fit for your goals.

Some work simply benefits from having more uninterrupted time.

If you’ve ever left a session wishing you had another hour, you’re not alone. Healing intensives remove the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy, allowing us to follow the work where it naturally leads.

Many people choose an intensive after realizing they’ve spent months or years making progress in small pieces but long to focus on what matters most in order to heal. The experience is personalized, immersive, and designed to help you make meaningful progress without the interruptions of a weekly schedule.

Most people picture something more intense than what it actually feels like.

It’s understandable to wonder what it would be like to spend several hours in therapy. In reality, most people are surprised by how quickly the time passes.

A healing intensive isn’t about pushing harder or staying emotionally activated for hours. The day is purposefully paced with opportunities to pause, regulate your nervous system, reflect, and integrate what you’re experiencing. While the work can be emotionally meaningful and at times tiring, it’s also balanced with the care and space your mind and body need to process well.

Many people leave feeling not only accomplished, but calmer and more grounded than they expected.

Yes.

Individuals and couples who travel to arKardia have access to excellent therapists where they live. They come because they’re looking for a different kind of therapeutic experience or because someone they trust recommended my work.

If we determine that an intensive is the right fit, our time together is designed to help you make the most of the opportunity you’ve invested in, with care that is thoughtful and individualized.

I am licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Clients located in these states may be eligible for virtual intensives when clinically appropriate. While in-person work is often preferred, virtual intensives can be an effective option for some individuals.
